Just finished painting the spare room and I am so happy it’s done! Gone are the corpse-purple walls, with patchy mauve/lilac skirting. The floor is polished up to a nice dark wood, the walls are pristine and blindingly white and the skirting and picture rail is a fresh grass green. It’s bright, but it sure looks clean and light! Even The Husband, who was dead against painting it in the first place, has come around.
Of course, I put green paint all over myself so I figured that was a sign to go out the back and work on a garden bed.
Over by the fence where the neighbours grapevine pokes through, the previous owners had kidnapped part of it and strung it along the fence. Of course, our side of it was mostly dead and so has been pruned away. The garden bed (and that’s being charitable) had compacted soil, two of the ugliest succulent plants known to man and a heap of weeds. All of that has gone. I loosened the soil, papered over the weeds, dumped mushroom compost on the paper, then potting mix on that. Then I planted my snow-pea sprouts (I had 100% germination and they’re looking very lively) and mulched with pea straw. After a good watering in, the side bed is totally transformed.
Yay me!
